Poker Games Eight or Better poker tips

For a lovely game like Omaha Eight-or-Better, many poker players believe that hands like K-S, Q-D, J-S, and T-H are weak but the fact is that the reverse is the case for a lot of reasons. First, when you flop any of the above hands well enough, there is almost no possibility of any available low. Examples of hands which kill the low are those that are always more precious in Omaha Eight-or-Better. This may be because when you win using the hand, the entire pot goes to you. The strongest hands in Omaha Eight-or-Better are those that have a potential for scooping. There are 2 types: those that have 2-way potentials like 2 Aces, Two and Three then the ones with a high potential e.g. 2 Aces, King and Queen.

The other reason which makes high straight cards very valuable in Omaha Eight-or-Better is that it takes pride as a hand that can hardly get you trapped. In Omaha Eight-or-Better, it is either you make the hand flop well or you do so flop very poorly. Unlike when playing low straight cards where a player has an idiot end of a hand that may be a straight; with a bad low that has to be paid with a hand of high straights. There is just no hiding place with a hand like this so long as one is able to throw out a pair of flops if there is a low card that is dangerous. In Omaha Eight-or-better, the strength of a winning hand compared to 7-Card Stud or Texas Hold'em is always greater. In a game like Stud, a two pair hand will easily win the pot but in Hold'em, only a pair is likely to win.

However, in Omaha Eight-or-Better, the two hands will lose more because the other players have 4 cards the strength of the winning hand is sharply increased so that you, the player, have to play a hand that is likely to make the nuts. By keeping this in mind always, you will well be on your way to winning Omaha Eight-or-Better. Maybe because the best hand in Omaha Eight-or-Better is 2 Aces, Two and Three; a lot of poker players tend to overestimate the value of the 2 Aces they are having in hand. The 2 Aces can make a top set but Aces are generally known to play for low meaning that a player guarantees a piece to a low board when a set is flopped. The new aces have some of similar drawbacks because of this, just like Deuces through Eights.

Tip of the day!
Pre-flop raising without Aces or Kings is going to be making the game unnecessarily expensive. Do not leak out lot of chips in pre-flop raising unless you hold Aces or kings. Any other card is not going to be worth a raise in pre-flop. Better check to see how the board flops.
