Introduction to Texas Holdem Poker

Texas Holdem poker can be played by all levels of players who can be beginners, amateur or professionals. The difference in the skill levels contributes to the success in the game. Before mastering the Texas Holdem Poker strategies a deep understanding of the introduction to Texas Holdem is necessary.

For those beginners who need a simple introduction to Texas Holdem poker you need to just know that there are basically five rounds that are:-

  • Ante
  • Preflop
  • Flop
  • Turn
  • River

There is a betting session following each round of draw. The river is followed by showdown and pot splitting.

Here is a summary and simple introduction to Texas Holdem poker game style:-

  • Before the game begins blind bets are placed by 2 players that are immediate left to the dealer. Blind bets are forced bets that will be placed before seeing any card. The small blind is placed by the player first left to the dealer; the big blind is played by the player second left to the dealer!
  • The dealer deals each player in the table with two cards face down (the value of the card will not be visible to others), this is the pre-flop round and the players see their pocket cards (starting hands) and based on the strength of the hand they either place the bet or fold.
  • After the pre-flop round, it is the flop round, 3 face up cards are placed in the center of the board as community cards. Those players who have not folded in the pre-flop compare their cards with the community cards on the boards and decide to either bet or fold.
  • After the flop round, it is the turn round; one face up card is placed in the center of the board as the fourth community card. Those players who have not folded in the flop compare their cards with the community cards on the boards and decide to either bet or fold.
  • After the turn round, it is the river round; one face up card is placed in the center of the board as the fifth community card. Those players who have not folded in the turn compare their cards with the community cards on the boards and decide to either bet or fold.
  • The players remaining participate in showdown and the player who forms 5 high ranking cards in comparison with the board card like a flush, straight or pair and straight wins the pot.

Tip of the day!
If you are doing a re-buy after being broke, ensure yourselves that you are under your senses. Re-buys that are driven by depression and anxiety after losing money can be dangerous; however re-buys can be worthy if you have a good hand and your opponent is trying to have you exhaust in a bluff.
