DuplicatePoker.com Introduces Cap Betting – Improvements Enhance Skill and Further Reduce Luck

New York, NY – January 28, 2008 - DuplicatePoker.com announced today that it has made significant changes to its game site that are designed to further maximize skill over chance. The latest improvement, cap betting, means all players are limited to a certain number of chips they can either win or lose on a single hand.

In DuplicatePoker, every tournament table is dealt cards from an identical deck. This drastically reduces the element of luck, since a player can't get a run of "good" or "bad" cards – his corresponding opponents at other tables are getting the same good or bad cards. This is the same format that is used in duplicate bridge; in fact, all of the top competition events in bridge are conducted as duplicate games.

Since DuplicatePoker was first created in 2004, the game has primarily utilized a no-limit betting structure, allowing players to bet any amount of the tournament chips they had in play. With a capped betting structure now in place, player results over the entire course of the round or session are weighed more fairly, thus further reducing variance and emphasizing skill.

"Cap betting is the tool necessary to guarantee that game results will be an accurate reflection of skill," said Nolan Dalla, DuplicatePoker's Director of Communications. "Without cap betting in place, players who knew they were hopelessly behind could simply move all-in on the last few hands, regardless of their cards, with the hope they might get lucky and win the hand. But with cap betting, the Hail Mary strategy is nullified."

In most tournaments in Duplicate Poker, players start off each hand with 10,000 in chips. Cap betting means that players can bet only up to a fixed number of chips in each hand – for example, 1,000 chips per hand. With a cap placed on betting amounts, no single hand outcome guarantees success or failure.

Cap betting is one of many improvements made at DuplicatePoker.com within the last three months. In November 2007, a new game client debuted which made it easier to play the game and follow the action. The site has also made significant improvements to its graphics and navigation system.

The DuplicatePoker.com site offers both "play money" and "real money" games to its customers. Play money games allow novices a chance to become more familiar with the nuances of Duplicate Poker, at their own pace. However, there is also an opportunity to compete for real money. The site makes it easy for players to deposit funds via most major credit cards. The site includes a quick introductory tutorial on the concepts of the game of duplicate poker, an essential element to real enjoyment of this exciting new game.

DuplicatePoker.com also offers cash bonuses just for signing up and frequently holds free tournaments for its players, called freerolls. The site now offers a 200 percent sign-up bonus on any deposit made by new players up to $100, and even provides $3 in free money for new players to experiment with playing for real money.

More about DuplicatePoker.com

DuplicatePoker is a high-tech company that creates online and offline skill-based poker games for consumers. Our mission is to create fun, secure, and user-friendly poker games, as well as to develop innovative and groundbreaking technologies.

Duplicate Poker was patterned after Duplicate Bridge, which is popular worldwide in clubs, tournaments, and online. What makes Duplicate Poker such an original concept is that it functions as the supreme test of pure poker skill. No player can ever complain about bad cards or suffering bad beats, simply because all players in the competition get dealt the same cards; hence the name "Duplicate Poker." Each player faces an identical set of circumstances, where skill and not luck is the primary component.

DuplicatePoker.com is a skill game site, not a gambling site, and is legal in most U.S. jurisdictions. U.S.-based players may use standard forms of payment -- such as Visa and MasterCard to make deposits into their Duplicate Poker accounts.

The management and shareholders of the company are well-respected individuals in their respective industries. The assembled talents of the DuplicatePoker Team have developed a new way of playing online poker that elevates the image of the game to a new level of respect in the gaming community. All employees and shareholders are proud to be a part of this unique enterprise that converts poker to a mentally challenging sport, while providing financial rewards to its best players.

DuplicatePoker was established in 2004 as a privately held Delaware company. Headquarters are based in New York, NY, with satellite offices in Tel Aviv, Israel as well as throughout the United States.

Tip of the day!
Serial bluffing never helps. If the table has faced a single bluff they are going to suspect most of your moves following it. Never try to fool people by bluffing serially. If you do so it is never going to work for any better, unless you are a monstrous bluffer!
