In a game of poker, there are big and small blinds. Both types of blinds are used to describe the players who placed those bets. The big blind is the one that represents the larger of the two blinds which is mostly used in poker games like Texas Hold'em. Big blinds are usually wagers played as full first rounds. A blind is generally regarded as a kind of forced bet which has to be placed before a player is allowed to see any card. You may hear some poker players say "I lost over a hundred bucks in blinds and still didn't have a hand to play for more than 2 hours."
In a limit game, the small blind at the left of the dealer is usually half the size of small bets, while a full small bet is the big blind at the small blind's left. Betting begins with the player at the left of the big blind, who is expected to at least call the big blind in order to stay in. When sitting at a new table, a player is advised to wait until it gets to their turn to blind before they can play a hand.
